Floral Know-How – What to Know Before Hiring a Florist

If you’ve never hired a florist for a wedding or large event, the process can feel mysterious. Here’s a peek behind the scenes.

Not a Daily Florist

Petaloso doesn’t do grab-and-go bouquets. We’re event-based — think weddings, dinners, TV sets, installations. It’s art, not retail.

Sourcing Flowers

Our blooms come from everywhere: California, Argentina, Miami, the Netherlands. We prioritize local when we can, but global farms allow for more seasonal and color variety.

Processing Flowers

Each flower is trimmed, cleaned, and sorted upon arrival. Stems are cut on an angle to drink, greens are removed below the waterline, and everything is placed into fresh water or coolers depending on timing.

Floral Mechanics

We use reusable tools: chicken wire, guppy cages, floral tape — all part of sustainable design. For installs, our team constructs most things on-site to avoid transport damage.

Timing Matters

Unlike florists who want blooms to last a week, we want ours to shine for just one day — your day. It’s all about bloom timing and peak beauty.

Collaborating with Planners

We work beautifully with planners, designers, and clients directly. Many of our best events are the result of thoughtful teamwork and clear communication.
